I'm a Scientist, Engineer, and Project Lead at Yahoo Applied Research Division in Santa Clara, CA. I'm also the Founder of De-stress.us, a web site designed to help people manage their stress. Originally I'm from Russia, and before coming to the USA I got a B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics from Moscow State University. I came to the USA in 2002 to enter a Ph.D. program in Computer Science at Cornell University, which I successfully completed this year. My main research interests are focused around the Web: Web structure and evolution; efficient algorithms for content management and information retrieval of the Web; digital library interoperability architectures; automatic metadata extraction and collection generation from the Web; machine learning for Web-related problems; Web 2.0 and user behavior on the Web. At Yahoo I'm working on new generation content management algorithms as a part of the Content Relevance team.
In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, hiking and fishing, skiing, swimming, playing badminton and outdoor games, ballroom dancing, partying with friends, listening to music, and reading some phylosophy books. I'm also involved in organizing Art of Living courses, and in teaching Sri Sri Yoga. I used to play the classical guitar, but due to the lack of time (see above about research interests), I don't play at the moment. I like cooking (especially exotic international meals), I collect coins and cones, and I do some origami when I'm in the mood for that.
